Jet Lag (and other dislikes)

Has it been 2 days or 3 days?! According to my Oura ring, it’s been enough to bring my sleep score to a 32 (not out of 40). Duolingo swears I keep breaking my streak. It’s jet lag. I am pretty sure it’s been two days. Got on a night flight September 1 – arrived to a gray day in London at noon (but you can never really tell what time it is there). And then figured out the tube system and landed at our hotel for a quick overnight. While dying inside of exhaustion and neck pain from my three hours of ridiculous airplane sleep, we decided to get on local time with dinner. In our family, food with real ingredients is a primary factor of our enjoyment overall.
I have been gluten free for 15 years and have to make a few more discerning choices than the others … but we are all much happier people when we eat real food. Eric promised we would find lots of authentic Indian food, so that’s what we sought out on the map. Found a place that delivered and then waited a painful 115 minutes for it to arrive. Turns out, London gets crazy around dinner time and there was an accident causing a delay. The man explained he would get his friend on a bike to deliver it instead. I was blankly staring at the wall thinking surely we had been scammed and there was no food coming.
And then it arrived. It was delicious – dal, butter chicken, naan (for everyone else), tikki masala, and an interesting smoky chicken fried rice. It was at the limit of our spice scale (4 out of 5 of us) – probably not saying much. And it really made up for the gray day and the scant sleep.
The night was long. Very long. Wakes ups at 1am (took melatonin), 3am (gave family melatonin), and finally 7am with an alarm (that felt like the first deep sleep cycle). Getting on local time prevailed and we made our way to breakfast and onto another plane to arrive in the EU for our next 90 days.
