The Many Balconies of Juliet (in fair Verona)

I almost forgot to post about Verona. What a cute and trendy stop-over after our train from Rome to the Verona station. We had to take a detour to see the tour and look for the balcony. We walked the cobblestone streets, gawked at the very fancy (and name-brand) stores, and loved finding a little hole-in-the-wall restaurant. Actually, not all of us love hole-in-the-wall restaurants yet. The gnocchi, insalata mista, lasagna, and carbonara were all amazing in this tiny street-side cafe. We walked and found gelato (of course).
And then the balconies.
There was a pre-balcony, which I thought looked picturesque and would have been satisfied with, but then the sign pointed beyond this balcony to the tourist balcony (hidden behind an arch and costing 20 euros. I took a paparazzi photo from far away. And then, even another building that would be perfect for the balcony. Juliet should definitely be on this balcony. It really didn’t matter. It all looked preserved to perfection. It is hard to believe the city is old enough for Shakespeare to write in and be inspired by. Pops of modern infrastructure lit up the city so you knew it was a very trendy place to be. The prices in store reflected this as well. Noah is still going to look for his North Face Verona shirt when we pass through on our way out of the region. Here’s to Romeo and Juliet!
